Market to Table


Market to Table is a special series of appointments created by Rachel Roddy, Carla Tomasi and Alice Adams for visitors to Rome.  The idea is to start at the market, mostly Testaccio, Rachel’s local, where we will fill bags and baskets with the best of the season.  We then walk back across the river to Trastevere and up to latteria studio, where Carla awaits – with more produce from her garden in Ostia.


Making fresh pasta is much of the day, as well as trimming, cutting and prepping the vegetables and other morsels that will make up part of a very convivial shared lunch.

in the kitchen – spring program

The kitchen at latteria studio has a program planned for the coming months as vibrant as the produce tumbling off the stalls at the Roman markets.  Flavours and inspiration from North, South, East and West, in events and workshops created by our global family of cooks, writers and artists.

Sunday 20 March – from 11 till 5 – Easter pop-up kitchen with Carla Tomasi, Sofie Kure Wochner, Molly Gage and Alice Adams.  Pack the pantry: preserves, chutneys, hand made peanut butter, fresh pasta, and hot cross buns for the Easter holidays.

Thursday 7 April – from 8pm – Galette Galore: traveling chef and artist Haley the Maker from Toronto presents an all galette dinner party.

Saturday 9 April – from 10am – An introduction to preserving: bottling the season with Carla Tomasi, a morning lesson with lunch.

Wednesday 13 April – 8pm – 4 course dinner with traveling chef Haley the Maker

Friday 15 April – 9am at the Mercato di Testaccio – Market to Table with Rachel Roddy, Carla Tomasi and Alice Adams; the first of a series.

Thursday 21 AprilMoroccan Cocktail party – an evening of Moroccan appetizers and Morocco’s whiskey (mint tea) with traveling chef Haley the Maker.

Saturday 23 April4 course dinner with traveling chef Haley the Maker and Mario Traina, chef from the Anna Tasca Lanza cooking school in Sicily.

Saturday 14 MayAn introduction to curing and sausage making with Carl Legge and Carla Tomasi.  A pork lovers day with demonstrations, sample product and a fine and convivial lunch.
